Yesterday I took my car for an oil change and annual inspection. It took a long time—more than four hours—because it needed work and then they were waiting for three new windshield wipers to be delivered. I waited outside in the shade in cool breezes then decided to meditate to pass the time. A fly kept me company.

At sundown, the lights go up. Down and up, up and down….that’s life.

688. looking back
I’m glad that I slowed down….all eyes were on me. It was too dark for that picture. This picture is of a little deer I glimpsed in the woods one day. It was looking back at me the way deer seem always to do whenever I look at them. This may be true for you, too. I wonder, could it be that this deep looking is offering something important for us to think about, or are the deer simply slowing us down for a quiet moment or two.
687. on a mission
I love it when I discover new things—at least for me, they’re ‘new.’ This little bugger, about 2 inches long with a shiny black head and two white dots for eyes, was covered from one end to the other with spiky yellow hair and several longer black spikes like daggers sticking out near its head and hind. Fascinating!

679. thank you, moon….
The talk is about money, the news is all about dying and disaster. At the end of the day, sometimes all I need to do to keep things in perspective is to go outside and look up. Thank you, moon.

It can be so simple if you’re willing. Just make the time, create an opening, and communicate. That’s it: time….open space….quiet conversation. Keep the conversation going.

Angels can fly because they don’t take themselves so seriously”—GK Chesterton
A sunny day in the shade, sitting under a beach umbrella, I watched this lady bug creeping it’s way along the edge of my chair. Careful not to move in the wrong direction or rollover and harm it, I lightly blew on it hoping to coax her to fly away. She did. Then she returned, landing like a feather on my shoulder. Again I coaxed her and she flew away. And, you guessed it, she returned one more time….smiling my day.
How is it that angels seem to appear just when you need them….where do they come from, where do they go?

666. pinky
I once had a cat, a Siamese cat, with a puppy dog face. She was such a pussycat—soft and loving and so sweet. When things got me down she somehow knew, and would always come close to sit with me and purr….and purr….and purr. She lived with me more than 20 years. Her name was Pinky.

Train tracks run twenty feet behind the house. Off in the distance, an early whistle blows….I look out thru the bedroom window….then look up to see the sky. It’s gorgeous, and stops me cold….later on it’ll stop me hot!!π₯΅
