1959. hurry up and wait!

standing in line
waiting for the doors to open
odd man out

Heavy snows in the forecast again—14 to 18 inches, wind gusts up to 40 mph, due to begin tomorrow morning by 7AM. Wanting to stock up on food, I hurried to Trader Joe’s early thinking they’d be open at 8AM only to have to wait til 9. Fun part was seeing so many women hurrying in from every direction, and just one guy. With nothing to do but wait we all ended up in a group chat, kinda like clucking hens with a lone rooster joining in. Turned out to be a fun way to start the day.

1958. me and my bird

feeling heavy
all the way down to the ground—
me and my bird

“He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” — 10x8” — Origami

I finished this one just in time. It’s perfect for saying how I woke up this morning.  Got up late, feeling droopy, sky’s all dreary. Atmospheric pressure weighing me down. It’s raining heavy, temperatures climbing, foggy air on the way down. Perfect day to hang low.😉

1957. in the museum

sitting down
crossing one knee over the other
ahh. . .

How lovely to have the time to go somewhere and just sit there, like you belong.

1956. our anniversary

exchanging rings
sharing life together
feeling grateful

It’s been 365 days, 8,760 hours, and  525,600 minutes since we exchanged our rings, vowing to love, honor, and respect each other in marriage. We have been working mutually to nurture kindness, friendship, patience, harmony, and peace at home.
G. K. Chesterton believed in The Miracle of the Ordinary. He thought that common daily life—filled with mundane responsibilities—holds more wonder, mystery, and divine natural law than any abstract philosophy. Our experience has shown this to be true.

1955. blowin’ in the wind

blowin’ in the wind
feathery fronds and feathers
flutter on the hill

One last snowy picture. On the hillside the birds and tall grasses holding on tight in the wind—feathery fronds and feathers all swayin’ and swingin’.

Sunday morning, sipping French Roast by the fireplace, making room for Tommy.  Looking over to see Dan’s interpretation of Tommy in papier-mâché clay. Tommy perfectly poised, as Dan builds step by step allowing layer on layer to slowly dry by the fire, the perfect place. 😻❤️

1953. walk in the woods

fresh air and sunshine
two robins, a red bird, one deer and a dog….
good boy, teddy

I stopped and watched a lone deer foraging, nibbling steadily, head low to the ground. I was glad there was food to fill her belly. Deer usually travel in company, so I looked around for others nearby but she was alone. Then she sensed my presence, looked up and stared awhile in stillness, allowing me a clear photo for my blog.

1952. honey and me

honey and me
in love we’ll be, a long time
a mighty long time!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all who love everywhere!  Love is alive. Love is a force. It is the energy which allows, opens up, and expands….it creates, reveals, shares, and heals.❤️

1951. tracks

tracks in the snow
plodding and skating along
who goes there?

Wandering, wondering. Two distinctly different patterns of footsteps, one in the snow, one on the snow, weighty and feathery, sinking and sliding. Side-by-side who were they? Crow 🐦‍⬛ or rabbit🐇 or squirrel 🐿️ or raccoon🦝 or deer🦌 or fox🦊. Did they travel together? Early or late in the day?  Where are they now? Did they survive the freezing cold?  I hope so.❤️

1950. everything’s gonna be all right

taking my seat
i looked up to see the king
and i smiled

Yesterday in the loo at The Mill, sitting down, i looked up and right there just above my knees, front and center, 24” x 30” — Bob Marley, the King of Reggae. His image took me back to reggae rhythms and messages of peace, love, and justice. I could almost hear him singing, “yeah, everything‘s gonna be all right!”  ✌🏻 ❤️ 🙏🏻

1949. life goes on

faded flowers
casting fresh shadows
on snow

Last summer‘s blossoms blooming all over again on the snow.  Every ending brings some new beginning. Life goes on. . .and on.

1948. sunshine and shadows.

sky was blue
snow was white, sun shown bright, and
i was shivering!

On the way home from a massage, I stopped at the park for a walk through the woods. Right away I realized I wasn’t dressed for the cold, but I kept walking anyway. It was worth it—look at the picture I brought home!

1946. purple dreams

turn on, turn on
when in doubt, wear purple out….
dance on

“Dancing In The Rain, Purple Rain” —10x8” — Origami

Dan sent me a picture of a woodblock print that I thought was pretty cool. Thanks, honey! I made my own interpretation of it. Here’s the original:

1945. stoked

Friday morning, the sun rose up and stoked the sky.

1944. white in white

white on white
you guessed it—more snow again
snow on top of snow

6:00AM—This is it: 17° with windchill at -2°, high winds and a steady drop in degrees all day. I chuckle to think how two months ago I wondered if we would see any snow this winter season.😆

1943. brighter days

what’s this?
lucky cat and golden fishes—
brighter days are coming

“Here’s Waving At You!” — 4x4” — Origami

No new pictures to post, here’s an oldie but goodie to brighten the day. Maneki-neko is the Japanese cat with raised paw said to bring happiness and good fortune.

1942. peace

tiny buddha
in an ocean of snow
ever-smiling

“Life is like a mirror. Smile at life and it smiles back at you.” Peace Pilgrim

1941. icy-hot!

icy fireball
lighting up the morning sky—
luv that sun!

I recently read a critique stating that too little is said about the morning sun, with poet after poet giving attention to the setting sun. I just wanted to say, I don’t feel at all ho-hum about the morning sun—It’s the greatest!😘

1940. the view from here

a patch of red
in a small corner of the view
removing my gloves

When life appears buried in bone-chilling ice, if you stay out in the cold air long enough to look around, you’ll find a spot of bright red to warm your day.

1939. feeling grounded

down to the ground
hiding out in the ground
a groundhog!

Happy Groundhog Day!

Earlier today it was 46 days 20 hours 46 minutes. . .and counting down. Just sayin’. Just doing my best to enjoy all the snow and ice before it’s gone and everything’s green.

1938. alfresco dining

Looks like there might be a long wait for dining outdoors on the patio. (Thanks to Gloria for this photo.)
