821. hope

hiding under
a tangle of branches and leaves
snowdrops

Snowdrop flowers are traditional harbingers of spring, announcing an end to winter. The first flowers to bloom at the end of winter, they can be seen as symbols of new beginnings, hope, rebirth, and the ability to overcome obstacles. Although they typically begin to surface in woodland areas during February and March, these snowdrops were popping up yesterday at the nearby Arboretum—it was January 5. Hmmm….

820. daybreak

daybreak
here comes the sun….and the moon
the moon was green
*
“green as a beer bottle
green as emeralds and leaves….
the moon is green”

This was the view from my bedroom window one morning, along with opening lines from The Moon Is Green, a so-so sci-fi story from the early 1950’s.

819. art saves lives

don’t go to war—
dance, sing, paint, draw, write, dream
make art not war

Painting, sculpture, literature, architecture, cinema, music, theatre, photography.
