1763. a young fox
a young fox
resting in peace at last
on this good earth
It was early morning when I found this fox lying in the middle of the road. I’d never seen a fox this close. I stayed there a while gazing. It looked young to me. I guessed it to be about 30 inches long from the tip of its nose to the tip of white fur on its tail. It was beautiful, yet sad. I didn’t want to leave it there to be run over again and again by cars and trucks driving by so I brought it over to a shaded area of soft ground, secluded under evergreen trees, surrounded by leaves and a few Rose of Sharon blossoms. I said a prayer and bid it farewell.
