1233. i’m not italian

a quiet dinner
thinking of my brother
eating spaghetti

Spaghetti, green salad, and bread. It’s Italian, but I’m not. Hardly. My mother was Czechoslovakian and my Pop Chinese, and at home they spoke German. How’s that for eclectic?  They both went out every day to work, they both gardened, and they both cooked. Mom’s cooking was heavy—potatoes and dumplings and bread, meats with gravy. Pop cooked delicate stir-fries—veggies and tofu and rice. I never had a green salad growing up. My cooking is all over the place.

Sitting here looking at this spaghetti with all that red sauce, it made me think of Yulin. When he was a kid, my brother loved to eat spaghetti sandwiches! I can see him now.♥️

Funny thing about this picture—it’s upside down! Just goes to show you, when in doubt—try turning things around. I was fiddling around, looking for an interesting picture to post and….voila!

1231. far away

Far away from the woods, life sure looks different!
